This guide provides homeowners and HVAC contractors with general information on completing high efficiency furnace retrofits. It provides an overview of key steps involved in the furnace retrofit process including pre-changeout, installation, commissioning, and education and maintenance. Additionally, common challenges encountered by HVAC contractors during furnace installation are covered with suggested solutions for overcoming these barriers. This publication is not intended to replace residential furnace installation training materials developed for HVAC contractors.
