This addition to the community provides stable housing and supportive services for families transitioning out of poverty. The property includes 60 residential units across four, three-story buildings. 30 of the units are transitional apartments for families coming directly from homelessness, while the remaining 30 units are permanent affordable homes, with access to supportive services.
The structures include slab on grade, walk-up stairs, high-performance insulation, triple-pane windows, and advanced heat pump water heating. The energy use is limited to roughly one-third of that of a typical apartment building and one-third of the site is preserved as an enhanced natural wetland.
RDH provided PHIUS+ Passive House design consulting, building enclosure consulting, PHIUS+ verification, and construction field review services for the building enclosure.
