Version 2.0 reflects the latest revisions to the National Building Code of Canada, introduces guidelines on encapsulated mass timber for high-rise structures, and incorporates updates aligned with CSA O125 and CSA O86 industry standards.
RDH specialists played a key role in reviewing and revising the original content, proposing updates, and collaborating closely with the broader contributor team to develop new sections.
For the Enclosure chapter, RDH expanded the building enclosure section to include wall assemblies and detailing conditions for transitions between these assemblies. We also enhanced the discussion to include special considerations for addressing various climates and code changes. We worked closely with the authors of the Fire and Structure chapters to align recommendations and assembly requirements with the fire encapsulation requirements and new CSA standards.
RDH enhanced the moisture management section for the Construction and Installation chapter with detailed, step-by-step guidance on mitigating moisture risks during construction. We also contributed a model specification outlining recommended moisture management plan requirements for mass timber projects. We expanded on the discussion of temporary moisture control systems, highlighting their benefits and limitations.
