The Project Manager is a leadership role at RDH.  The role, which could be undertaken by either a Technologist, Architect, or Engineer with experience of building enclosure projects, includes contributing to existing building projects, while providing support for the Regional Service Area Leader as a project manager in business development and project delivery.

The role will vary from providing support to more senior staff, to being the day to day contact on projects. Another component of this role will include the training of junior staff, particularly on projects where the staff will report to you on your projects.

The focus will be predominantly in RDH’s Existing Buildings and New Construction practice areas. These projects sometimes overlap with the Energy and Sustainability practice area and involvement in those projects will be possible when the opportunity arises.

There will be a need to attend after-hours client meetings and/or business events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • For a range of building enclosure rehabilitation and renewals projects on existing buildings.
  • Coordinate on-site investigation of existing problems.
  • Direct preparation of construction document packages for a range of renewals and rehabilitation projects.
  • Coordinate building and development permit applications.
  • Manage renewals and rehabilitation projects.
  • Leading the RDH team in new construction building enclosure design projects from concept design through construction stages.
  • Lead regular site meeting with building owners, architects, contractors, developers, product manufactures, and any other relevant parties to discuss progress of the work.
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients for projects in our Existing Buildings and New Construction sectors.
  • Participate in business development activities, marketing, and proposal preparation.
  • Write reports; prepare and deliver presentations.
  • Supervise staff on projects; provide mentorship to junior staff and support their career development plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Architecture or Engineering preferred, or Building Engineering Technology with a focus on building science
  • Minimum 5 years experience including extensive site experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or registered Architect preferred, or an ability to become registered within one year
  • Understanding of local building codes and municipal permitting processes is an asset

  • Knowledge of building enclosure design principles, architectural / building enclosure detailing, and municipal codes and regulations
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to clients, employees, and other industry stakeholders via written reports and presentations

  • Understanding of residential, commercial, and institutional building design and construction, including various structural and enclosure systems. Understanding of the needs and objectives of building owners and how RDH may be able to assist them in meeting their goals.
