The Building Science Technologist role includes a wide range of tasks including construction drawing and specification review, field review, field testing, and forensic investigations working under direction of senior technical staff and project managers.  You will be exposed you to a variety of projects to provide diverse experiential learning and develop your skills and knowledge.

Our clients are eager to reduce the environmental impact of buildings by ensuring they are performing at the highest level. Our field review work supports the quality assurance process through regular and strategic observation to help ensure that the construction meets the design intent. With a deep understanding and appreciation for the construction process and the interaction between materials and assemblies provided by varied design and construction team members, we combine formal and informal consultation to support the design team in identifying and articulating integration of the building enclosure assemblies.

NOW IN 5 BURSTS:

  • Experience: Diploma in Building Enclosure Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, Engineering (Building Science); or equivalent practical experience. 1 or 2 years previous related experience an asset but not required.
  • Special Skills: Understanding of building science fundamentals and technical knowledge of building and construction principles. Comprehension of how building components are assembled. Experience working in Microsoft, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Build.
  • Passion: Work with a team of project managers and technical specialists to make buildings better.
  • Role: Documentation review, field testing, research, report, and presentation development. Attend regular site meeting with owners, architects, contractors, developers, product manufacturers, and any other relevant parties to discuss progress of the work. The majority of work for this role will focus on construction site field review and project coordination.
  • Attributes: Results-oriented, life-long learner, curious, able to shift focus, clear communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and works well independently.

BENEFITS AND PERKS:

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 – $75,000 annualized for a full-time role. Salary is dependent various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for discretionary incentives and share ownership.
