The 25 St. Clair Avenue East project in Toronto revitalizes a key piece of urban structure, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and environmental performance. The building enclosure upgrade included a complete re-clad with a new exterior insulated “rainscreen” cladding system (terra cotta), high-performance triple-glazed punched windows and unitized curtain wall, and new lightweight insulated concrete roof deck with rooftop-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar panels.

RDH served as the building enclosure commissioning provider, supporting the project in meeting high-performance standards. From the outset, we reviewed wall assembly shop drawings and unitized curtain wall systems to verify compliance with project requirements. We also supported the development of the project’s energy strategy through peer review of the energy model, targeting an 80% reduction in carbon emissions through energy-efficient design choices.

Throughout construction, RDH maintained an active presence, conducting inspections, overseeing the installation of enclosure components, and performing air and water leakage testing on the punched windows and unitized curtain walls. We also facilitated mid- and end-of-construction airtightness testing, confirming the installed performance of the air barrier system. The 25 St. Clair Avenue East project demonstrates RDH’s experience in delivering high-performance, low-carbon solutions.
