100 Forge, constructed entirely of glass, stands as the first lab building in Watertown and is nestled within the amenity-rich Arsenal Yards. Additionally, 500 Forge adds significant visibility and space to the development.
RDH was retained by Boylston Properties to provide Building Enclosure Consulting for both 100 Forge and 500 Forge. Our services encompassed a range of elements including terra cotta, metal panels, curtain wall systems, roofing, and waterproofing. We also provided construction administration support and conducted field reviews throughout the project, extending our consulting services to Buildings C, D, and F from the design phase through to project closeout.
During the design phase of 100 Forge and 500 Forge, RDH meticulously reviewed drawings and specifications related to the curtain wall, terrace and balcony systems, and roofing assemblies. We developed and integrated unique project details into the contract documents, particularly at critical roof-to-wall and other project-specific system transitions.
In the construction phase, RDH witnessed and documented the curtain wall manufacturing and quality control processes at the factory. We conducted and coordinated field tests on various curtain wall installations in accordance with standards such as ASTM E1105, ASTM E783, and AAMA 501.2. Following our field reviews, we provided timely reports on issues encountered and offered recommendations for corrective actions. Additionally, we assisted the architect and owner in resolving non-standard details that were not specifically addressed in the contract documents.
Upon project completion, RDH delivered a comprehensive final report summarizing the enclosure construction and assessing the level of conformance with the construction documents for the buildings.
