RDH was engaged to evaluate observed performance issues within the building’s exterior cladding system. Our team conducted field investigations, collected representative samples, and developed a laboratory testing program to assess material behaviour under varying temperature and moisture conditions. The findings informed recommendations to support the development of a long-term enclosure remediation strategy and improve the durability and performance of the building enclosure.
In addition, RDH provided building enclosure consulting services for the museum’s Benaroya Hall addition. Our scope included design review and construction phase services for wall assemblies, glazing systems, roofing assemblies, and critical enclosure interfaces, with a focus on moisture management, durability, and integration with the existing museum.
During construction of the Benaroya Hall addition, RDH provided field review and technical support to help verify that enclosure systems were installed in accordance with the design intent. The project supported the museum’s continued investment in its facilities, helping maintain the environmental conditions necessary to protect collections, enhance visitor comfort, and support long-term building durability.
