This work supports RDH’s mission to improve the built environment by empowering clients, jurisdictions, and the broader industry with accessible, applicable knowledge. We adapt to evolving codes, technologies, and technical standards while advancing professional development, compliance understanding, and sector-wide transformation.
Our Differentiators
We offer a dedicated Training and Publications team specializing in adult learning theory, instructional design, educational technology, and editorial strategy—an uncommon combination in the building industry. This specialization allows us to deliver learning resources that are accurate, relevant, and tailored to client goals.
Our integrated approach helps clients scale training, improve compliance outcomes, and increase knowledge retention. We combine subject matter expertise with instructional design, graphic support, and engagement strategies to reach technical and non-technical audiences alike. Our team’s experience spans curriculum development, editorial production, and customized learning tools designed for real-world use.
Values and Priorities
We are guided by a commitment to technical excellence, clear communication, and continuous learning. Our work supports clients and internal teams in responding to evolving industry needs—from new code requirements and emissions targets to emerging technologies and retrofit strategies. These themes are reflected throughout our Technical Library.
We aim to produce content that is technically sound, accessible, and actionable. That means clear language, intentional formatting, and thoughtful design that improves usability. We also prioritize broad accessibility through careful attention to translation, clear writing, and inclusive design principles.
How We Work
Our team uses a collaborative, customized approach, working across RDH offices and specialties to deliver training and publications aligned with each client’s needs. We translate technical content into formats that serve specific business goals—whether educating reviewers, supporting sales teams, or guiding policy rollout.
We use a structured internal workflow to maintain consistent quality across deliverables. This includes a proprietary playbook, editorial templates, and deep familiarity with over 30 learning platforms and AI tools. We engage clients throughout development to reflect their audience, timelines, and goals. Our reach extends beyond internal teams to support municipalities, manufacturers, and building professionals with tailored content that breaks down barriers and drives better decisions.
Project Spotlight: BERDO Training + Assistance | Boston, MA
The BERT project, delivered in partnership with RDH’s Boston office supports the City of Boston’s Department of Environment. Our team helped implement the city’s Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO) by training BERT (Building Emissions Review Team) reviewers.
RDH developed customized training to guide reviewers in evaluating flexibility measure applications and administering funds from the Equitable Emissions Investment Fund. To support broader public understanding, we created plain-language resources that explained complex ordinance requirements without relying on industry jargon. This content was crafted by editorial and technical specialists to meet the needs of building owners and operators.
The project also included on-call support for BERT reviewers, providing timely answers and clarification. This work reflects our ability to deliver clear, effective learning experiences that help both public and professional stakeholders navigate technical content and achieve regulatory goals.
