Clients come to us when projects demand more than just basic execution. They need advisors who understand building science, who can resolve constructability challenges before they escalate, and who keep projects aligned with budget, schedule, and design intent. Our team brings engineering expertise into the construction workflow, providing performance goals are achieved alongside practical delivery.
Our turnkey Construction Management approach brings design engineers and construction professionals together as one unified team. This seamless collaboration streamlines communication, accelerates decision-making, and delivers smarter, more efficient project outcomes—all under one roof.
Our integrated approach is especially valuable in occupied retrofits, where every detail—from sequencing to communication—must be carefully planned and thoughtfully executed.
Construction Management Delivery Models
- Construction Management as Advisors (CMa): RDH acts as the construction manager working collaboratively with the engineering team during the design process, then bids the work to trade contractors for the client to contract with, then scheduling construction operations with an RDH Superintendent. This model allows for greater flexibility and client involvement throughout the process and maximizes cost savings.
- Construction Management as Advisor (CMc): In this model, RDH acts as the construction manager working collaboratively with the engineering team during the design process, then bids the work to a subcontractor that RDH will contract with. RDH takes on contractual responsibility for delivering the project within an agreed budget and schedule. We combine the advantages of construction management with either a Cost Plus a Fee with a Guaranteed Maximum Price or a Cost Plus a Fee without a Guaranteed Maximum Price. These CMc agreements reduce risk for the owner while maintaining technical oversight.
The RDH Difference
We combine the technical knowledge of our engineering team with the real-time responsiveness of in-house construction managers. This integration means clients get faster answers, fewer surprises, and better outcomes. Because we control both the technical detailing and the day-to-day delivery, we’re able to resolve conflicts early, reduce change orders, and drive clarity from concept through closeout.
In Vancouver and Seattle, where this combined model is rare, it gives our clients a distinct edge—especially in projects involving tight urban sites, aging buildings, or carbon-driven retrofits. Whether the goal is energy compliance, cost control, or long-term resilience, our construction team keeps it grounded in real-world constraints without compromising performance.
Integrated Delivery for Better Outcomes
Our clients don’t just want a project delivered—they want a project delivered right. That means fewer handoffs, stronger accountability, and better coordination across teams. With engineers and construction managers working together from the start, we offer real-time input on design, cost, schedule and quality assurance. Our in-house estimating and project management tools add speed and accuracy to every stage.
The result: fewer surprises, better-informed decisions, and projects that reflect both the client’s intent and practical constraints.
Values and Priorities
We lead with professionalism and fairness, but we’re not just here to enforce the contract—we’re here to anticipate the challenges before they occur and manage them away, as well as solve problems. We focus on the intent behind the agreement and advocate for outcomes that serve both the project and the people involved. Our team fosters a culture of learning and accountability, equipping staff to navigate unexpected challenges with confidence.
Our values of clarity, collaboration, and technical integrity shape how we communicate, how we lead, and how we build.
How We Work
Our workflow spans preconstruction through post-construction and is anchored by tools that support budget accuracy and schedule tracking. We operate an in-house estimating team and use dedicated cost management software to give clients reliable numbers early—and fewer surprises later.
Throughout delivery, our construction managers and engineers collaborate closely, offering real-time insights that support smart sequencing and informed trade coordination. By blending technical and construction expertise under one roof, we bridge the gap between design and execution.
Project Spotlights:
One Wall Centre | Vancouver, BC
This downtown retrofit exemplifies RDH’s construction expertise in action. Our team was tasked with replacing cladding on the upper third of a mixed-use tower—without disturbing the hotel guests below. To solve this, we developed a custom installation stage suspended from the roof, allowing glass replacement from the top down while avoiding debris and disruption.
The project required close coordination between our structural engineers and specialty contractors to overcome sequencing, loading, and access challenges. Over seven months, the work was completed without a single interruption to hotel operations. The result is an upgrade that reflects our technical skill, collaborative delivery model, and focus on real-world outcomes.
Washington Square | Bellevue, WA
RDH managed a series of repairs and upgrades at Washington Square Condominiums phasing the project into two summer projects, addressing repairs to post-tension cable, exposed balconies, a public courtyard, a high-traffic main drive entrance, and restriping multiple garage levels. These improvements extended the service life of critical building elements while maintaining the property’s functionality and design intent.
