RDH was engaged to evaluate observed performance issues within the building’s exterior cladding system. Our team conducted field investigations, collected representative samples, and developed a laboratory testing program to assess material behavior under varying temperature and moisture conditions. The findings informed recommendations for a long-term enclosure remediation strategy to improve the durability and performance of the building enclosure.
In addition, RDH provided building enclosure consulting services for the museum’s Benaroya Wing expansion. Our scope included design review and construction phase services for wall assemblies, glazing systems, roofing assemblies, and critical enclosure interfaces, with a focus on moisture management, durability, and integration with the existing museum.
During the construction of the Benaroya Wing expansion, RDH provided field review and technical support to verify that enclosure systems were installed in accordance with the design intent. The expansion helps maintain the environmental conditions necessary to protect collections, enhance visitor comfort, and support the building’s long-term durability.
