Built in 1996, the Washington State Historical Society (WSHS) Museum is made of a reinforced concrete structure clad with brick veneer and precast concrete, as well as aluminum-framed windows.

Our Seattle team conducted a whole building Condition Assessment for the Washington State Historical Society. The building’s main roof is a sheet metal–clad steep-slope with barrel vault assemblies and some flat areas.

Immediately south of the main building is an outdoor amphitheater, a plaza area with ramps and planters, and a café with portions of the auditorium extending below the amphitheater and plaza.

RDH identified and located where the water leakage was manifesting and focused on addressing additional active water flowing into the main plaza and planter area. Following this, RDH provided recommendations for conceptual renewals and repair work based on the condition assessment findings.
