RDH provided building enclosure consulting services for 1450 Owens Street from design through construction administration, working alongside DGA and IwamotoScott Architecture. Our scope focused on the horizontal enclosure assemblies and their interfaces with the unitized curtain wall system, a technically complex condition given the building’s faceted geometry and the performance requirements of a life sciences occupancy.
During construction, RDH provided field verification and performance testing support for the curtain wall installation. This included observation of chamber testing to ASTM E1105 and ASTM E783 across multiple facade conditions, and nozzle testing to AAMA 501.2 at sill details, corners, system transitions, and door conditions. Testing was performed across the east and south facades over an extended observation period, with RDH providing daily summary reports documenting test locations, observations, and deficiencies.
RDH subsequently supported the building’s ongoing operations, providing waterproofing repair consulting for below-grade slab conditions during tenant improvement work, reviewing repair plans, developing detail recommendations, and verifying installation prior to concrete placement.
