Mass timber projects have unique considerations for managing moisture. Although mass timber can, and usually will, get wet during construction, problems can be avoided with proper planning and the right moisture control strategies. This article discusses strategies for managing the unique moisture risks of mass timber building projects and developing a moisture management plan to implement during construction. The most effective approach begins with planning during the project design phase (well before the mass timber arrives on site) and continues throughout construction.
